April 20th, 2006

Dear West Fargo Chamber,
It is our privilege to nominate Mr. Phil Roquette for West Fargo Police Department Employee of the Year! In reviewing your criteria we feel Phil meets and exceeds in every area. He has been employed by the City of West Fargo for over 37 years, being hired as a dispatcher for the police department August 25th, 1968, well before most of the staff he works with were born!

Phil has risen though the ranks to Chief Dispatcher, supervising all of West Fargo’s 911 dispatchers. It is his job to coordinate the 911 dispatching needs for not only police but fire and ambulance emergencies also. He also works with a wide variety of businesses and organizations coordinating technical needs regarding all forms of communications to include not just radios but phones, GPS coordination, computer integration and operational policies that must meet both department needs as well as State and Federal requirements.

Phil’s knowledge and leadership have been recognized by his counterparts throughout the State of North Dakota. He currently serves as President of the North Dakota 911 Association and is on the committee that works on legislation establishing the rules and laws governing the operation of 911 facilities throughout North Dakota.

Throughout the many years of service Phil has worked countless nights and weekends missing time with his family and friends. He is always ready to serve the needs of our community by coming in at a moments notice to help in emergencies due to floods, fires, criminal events or simply sickness and injury of fellow staff members. Phil and his wife Betty have lived in West Fargo all their married life. They are extremely proud of West Fargo and have raised their family here and continue to enjoy playing with their grandchildren.
