Arizona deputy charged in beating of West Fargo man
11-08-2012 By PD Staff

On September 16, 2012, at 1338 hours, the West Fargo Police Department received a report of an aggravated assault that occurred at 1095 Parkway Lane in West Fargo.  Officers met with the victim who was at that time identified as 40 year old, JASON SWART.  MR. SWART stated that when he returned home this afternoon, he got out of his vehicle and a black car occupied by two males pulled into his driveway.  The driver was described as approximately 5’10”, 200 pound male, with a bald fuzz type hair and a goatee.  The driver exited the vehicle and asked him if he was JASON.  A passenger remained in the vehicle as the driver approached.

The driver stated to the victim, MR. SWART, that he had been receiving his mail, shortly after that the victim, MR. SWART, stated he found himself lying on the ground in his own blood.  The victim informed officers at that point the driver, and the vehicle had left the scene.

Officers asked the victim, MR. SWART, if he had any idea who had assaulted him.  MR. SWART stated that he did. MR. SWART stated he believed the incident occurred because of a relationship he had with a female friend.  MR. SWART informed patrol officers that he had seen a picture of a man on Facebook and believed that is the individual who had assaulted him was the same individual.

On the morning of September 17, 2012, West Fargo Police Officer, DETECTIVE DEREK CRUFF, met with MR. SWART at the West Fargo Police Department.  Detective Cruff at this time reviewed photographs of the injuries to MR. SWART whose right ear had been partially cut off and then sewn back together.  He had two large cuts to the front of his face. Swelling and bruising to his face appeared to be consistent with multiple strikes to the face.  Further investigation led to the fact MR. SWART believed that the suspect that assaulted him was the husband of the woman he had a relationship with and the same person he had seen on Facebook.  Mr. Swart further stated he believed the suspect was a law enforcement officer with a last name of ABRAHAMSON.

Through investigation the suspect was identified as TIMOTHY ABRAHAMSON,  born 1971 and working as a Deputy Sheriff for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona.  With the cooperation of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department’s Internal Investigation Division, additional investigation resulted in the arrest of  41 year old Timothy Abrahamson, Glendale, AZ  at approximately 11am this date, November 7th, 2012.  The arrest was made by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department.

Additional investigation into this matter is continuing as the passenger in Mr. Abrahamson’s vehicle is identified and possible charges are considered.
